Tortoise

This tiny little tortoise looks like it is trying desperately to outrun the rising tide. Sadly it was not to be. In a brief moment of madness during the night it must have thought that it was a turtle instead (which can swim quite wel). Once it realised the truth it was already doomed. By the time we crossed paths on the beach early this morning it was too late for this little one.
